I'm Dreaming of Morning Buns

I was looking around at different blogs this morning, and I found an interesting blog from a woman that lives in the San Fransisco Bay area, via Sarah's Jottings. Take a look at her blog....she calls herself deliajude and she has very interesting subjects she talks about like her family, food, life in general...great pictures too. I was reading all her older posts and stumbled across a picture of her, or maybe her sister eating a "morning bun." Look for her Tuesday January 13, 2009 post.

By the way, the picture above is courtesy of Manna's Cafe & Bakery in Madison, Wisconsin...I love technology!

Anyway, I just want to say I absolutely love morning buns and no one really knows that except my mom! Because I don't live in a metro area....I live in rural Wisconsin remember....I cannot find anyone that makes or sells morning buns. Once in a great while my mom would buy me some morning buns because my parents live close to metro area. So, all I can do is sit and day dream about my favorite pastry.

So what is a morning bun? A morning bun is made from croissant dough, lots of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. The dough is rolled, cut and then placed in a muffin tin and baked. It's like a cross between a cinnamon roll and croissant. No frosting needed for those babies!

If you've ever eaten a morning bun, send me a comment!

I Love Surprises

I had a nice surprise at work today. My dear sister D and her husband M sent me flowers for Valentines Day. I believe you call these "Stargazers" which is a fragrant lily. They are very beautiful. Thanks Big Sis!!!!!

Today is our son's 21st birthday. So Chris stopped by tonight to say hi. He told me that he went to the liquor store today to buy some beer....he's been waiting to do that for like three years now. So he goes up to the cashier to pay for his beer. Does the cashier ask him for his ID...NO!!!!!! He was so disappointed! He's been waiting for the day he could go and buy beer and whip out his Driver's License to prove he is 21, and the cashier didn't even ask him for his ID! How ego crushing is that?

Happy Birthday Son!

Timothy & Friends

Well, this is Timothy as of this afternoon. You can really see we lost a lot of snow over a 5-6 day period. It's just strange to see so much bare ground....I wonder what the squirrels are thinking?
This is one of Timothy's cousins. He's the musician gnome...poor thing, his colors are slowly fading away by weather elements.

Now this little fella seems happy anytime of the day. He's our miniature guy so he still has a way to go before he can dig himself out of the snow.
I didn't have a good day today. I still have this flu bug that just won't go away. I headed out this morning to attend a children's summer reading workshop in a near by city, but ended up turning my car around and going back home since I felt ill. After coming home, I ended up sleeping for several hours, which seemed to help settle my stomach....weird!
It was so strange this morning because my kitty cat wouldn't leave my side and continued to sleep right next to me on the bed. She left about three times to go do her kitty box thing (she's obsessed with doing her duty in the litter box), but then just kept coming back to lay right next to me. Even when I finally woke up and sat in the living room she wanted to sit right next to me. Animals are funny that way. They can sometimes sense when their owner isn't feeling well. My fatty girl, Sheba, was like that. However, she would lay right on top of your stomach while you slept. Remember that Chris & Becca?

The Temperature is Dropping....Back to Winter

Today was a feeling of "relief" day. I finished my annual report for 2008 library statistics, and that's always a good, good feeling. Now I have a whole year to do it all over again.....weeeeeeeeeee!

This has been a weird week....no one showed up at my cycling class tonight so instead of class, I hopped on the virtual bike and rode two of the hilly routes. I had a little extra time to wash up and then I headed into Menomonie and went to church service tonight. By the time I headed home the highway was covered in snow!!! Yup, it's still winter people.....don't forget that ok?

Surprise Card in the Mail Today

This was such a nice surprise today. We received a card in the mail today that said:

Dear Ted & Lisa,
Congratulations, you have been chosen as West Wisconsin Land Trust 2009 volunteers of the year!

Wow, how exciting. Rick, who is the Director of the West WI Land Trust & a fellow bicyclist, sent us the card and invited us to the Annual Land Trust meeting in April, which will be held at the Mabel Tainter Theater in Menomonie. We will receive our award at the annual meeting. Over the last year or more, Ted and I have volunteered at their work days, plus Ted will be monitoring land trust proprieties in two northwestern counties during the summer months.

We are very excited and honored to receive this award. This news really made my day.

Cycling Indoors

Got home tonight around 7:30 pm. Went to the fitness center after work to do some weight training and ended up staying for "M" cycling class. Wow, "M" was really, really into standing climbs tonight. Then there were the "hovers" and "isolating." Now when I'm out riding in the warmer months, I try to have good bicycling form....no flopping my body around and wasting energy. Here's my philosophy on cycle class: if you don't do that on a real bicycle, don't do that in cycling class!!!!!!! Who the heck hovers over their bike saddle while their riding outdoors...really, come on. That is so horrible for your lower back!!! Sorry, you can probably tell by my attitude that I HATE hovering or isolating. I've been biking for many, many years now and I just don't understand why some spinning instructors make you do that stuff. I found an excellent cycling book (manual) that talks about the do's and don'ts of cycling class.....I'm learning so much. The title is "Keep it Real" by Jennifer Sage, Master Instructor Team Spinning International (she's also a real biker). Please don't get me wrong and I don't want to offend anyone, but when I teach my cycle class, I want everyone to have fun and exercise like you are really riding your bike. Does that make sense?

Sunday Potpourri

Today was my rest day. After getting back home from church and running errands, I could finally relax this afternoon. So, I grabbed my camera and headed down to the lake to see if Ted was having any action in the fish department.
Now take a look at these animal tracks. Hopefully you can enlarge the picture on your computer. I was thinking these looked like kitty cat tracks, but look at how spread out they are. I'm just wondering if it really was a cat..... was the cat running? What do you think?

I had to take a picture of this interesting path. This path was created by deer that come down off the hill and walk along the shoreline. It's just amazing how they will create a definite walkway. As I walked around the shoreline this afternoon, I noticed the deer tend to walk in the snowmobile tracks...they are very smart! Why tromp through the heavy snow when they can walk a snowmobile track!

Lastly, here's a picture of a 5 lb. (30 inches) Northern that Ted caught around 4 pm this afternoon. The Northern's were really active this afternoon. They keep setting off all the the tip-ups. We think they even stole the little minnows off the jig poles that Ted had set up....that's very weird.
I think we had a high temperature around 32 degrees this afternoon. The sunshine sure felt good. We had a fire going late this afternoon down on the ice, so Ted and I finished the day with a roasted hot dog on a toasted bun!
