Pioneer Woman

Besides her new children's books, Ree Drummond has just published her third cookbook.  I cataloged her book on Friday and brought it home to review over the weekend.  So far I like the recipes, very typical of Ree's style.....homemade, easy and great step-by-step photographs.

Ree Drummond and Me

I actually met Ree in November of 2009 at the Mall of America for a book signing.  Aunt Krissy and I stood in line for almost three hours to get a 10 second chit chat with her since she was promoting her first cookbook.  After reading her blog Pioneer Woman for a year, I really wanted to met her.  I don't read her blog as often as I want, but hey, now I can see her on the Food Network channel!

Even birds need to be pampered, well, if you live in Wisconsin that is!

Running Circles

Quilt from the Oneida Nations

Meetings, training sessions and lots of running around for my job.  Some days I just long for closet I can lock myself into and get my work done.....no interruptions, no phone calls, no bills, no email and absolutely no SOCIAL MEDIA!  Technology can be both wonderful and time consuming.

So tomorrow morning will be an extra coffee, plus a pecan caramel roll kind of day.  A little sugar and caffeine always motivates me.  Thanks for the treat Bike man!!!

Time Change

With the time change here in the Midwest, my after work runs are getting more colorful, and by next month, will get much darker and way more colder.  Wore my headlamp for the first time since last March.  I like the seasonal changes, but exercising outdoors after it gets dark is a little challenging.  My advice, find a partner that will encourage you.  Holding each other accountable for your workouts will bring commitment and accomplishment.

So the weather man used the "S" word today.  Looks like we are inching closer and closer to winter.

Cleaning Up

There's an abundance of kale still hanging around in our garden.  You gotta love kale for being one of those hardy cold weather plants.  Picked a whole grocery bag today and there's tons more still out there.  Made some Mexican rice tonight for dinner and what did I throw in the pot?  That's right, kale!  Very tasty.

Bike man and I worked outside all afternoon.  It's that time of the year when the yard needs to be raked, the garden needs to be cleaned and everything needs to be winterized.   We got a good start, but we still have more raking to do.

Got a run/walk in today with my dear friend Joan.  Friends make exercise much more enjoyable! Bike man switched his road bike to the trainer.  I guess this means we're ready for winter.....well maybe.
