Saturday Farmer's Market

If you want variety and colors, go to the local Farmer's Market

Mother of all onions!

My favorite, baby reds

Very nice presentation

The color is so red that you can almost taste the freshness
Highlights from the Farmer's Market today. Arrived late this afternoon right before everyone was packing up to leave. The skies were all cloudy and gray with gusty winds, but the vegetables and flowers looked beautiful. The gray clouds did not ruin my day....I had a lovely day with my kids. I even cooked a special meal tonight. Will share my special recipe in a day or two.
Tomorrow we will be traveling to Duluth, Minnesota to help move our daughter. Very busy weekend, but that's ok because I love my children and I love to be busy!

Corn, Corn, Corn!!!!!

This was corn night! Who hoo!!! Got home from work and immediately started blanching cobs of corn so we could freeze the corn. Crochet Lady was very kind and brought in lots of corn from her garden....thank you so much CL. What made tonight special was that our daughter Becca came home today so we recuiter her into the corn process. There's nothing better than garden fresh sweet corn.

Respect

Soak up the sun
Affirm life's magic
Be graceful in the wind
Stand tall after a storm
Feel refreshed after it rains
Grow strong without notice
Be prepared for each season
Provide shelter to strangers
Hang tough through a cold spell
Emerge renewed at the first signs of spring
Stay deeply rooted while reaching for the sky
Be still long enough to hear your own leaves rustling.

Too Busy For a Birthday

Gosh, it was a busy day today. Actually, too busy to remember that today was my 49th birthday. Good thing we celebrated yesterday with the cheesecake, because today I was on a fixed schedule. Arrived at work this morning, but then left to attend a library workshop in Eau Claire. Came home, quickly ate supper and then headed off to my Wednesday night bible study.

Since our regular pastor is currently serving in Iraq...he's a Chaplin, our Interim pastor (pastor Mac) holds Sunday service and bible studies on Wednesday nights. I decided it was time to snap a photo and send it to pastor R in Iraq. I tried to get the group to act goofy, but that didn't happen so the above photo is rather "posed." I hope pastor R likes the photo. We have a few people missing, but hopefully just the familiar faces will brighten his day.

No cycling again tonight. I hope to make up for that tomorrow morning. Will try to do a solo ride before heading to work.

We Just Have Too Much Fun!

I have great staff members at work who takes good care of me....yes, I feel very blessed. Aunt Krissy made sure that I got a homemade cheesecake for my birthday.....almond that is! She really is a good baker, kind of like my mother. Thank you Krissy, it was delicious. Don't worry Crochet Lady, I saved a piece for you.

I had a late meeting tonight at work, so no bike ride. I am starting to get excited now because the fitness center contacted me asking when I'm coming back to teach cycling class. I committed myself to starting October 5th. Since my work schedule can be crazy with meetings, I decided this fall/winter season I will teach Monday & Tuesday nights. I am hoping in December, the other cycle teacher will teach a class later in the week or possibly Saturday.

I saw the coolest thing tonight while driving home from work. I spotted Night Hawks flying along the highway and swooping down and then back up. It was weird because they were all concentrated in this one area along the highway for about 1/8 mile. I suppose they were enjoying lots of tasty bugs. I've never seen that before and as I drove through this area of highway, the birds were actually swooping down near my car. I came close to hitting one, but they seemed to be really enjoying the bugs!

PS. I got to meet Rose today, who happens to be Aunt Krissy & Kellie's friend from Alaska. I've seen Rose's blog comments so it was finally nice to meet her in person.

My Trail Days Are Limited

Another Monday trail ride, but solo this time (22 m). What nice day today....sunny & 78 degrees. Had a good south wind that created a "wind tunnel" effect, but when I head back to the north, the wind was behind me. My legs are still tired from Saturday, so rode easy.

Red Cedar River before sunset.....it's so calming and peaceful. It's been fun riding the trail on Monday's. My Monday trail rides are now limited.

Our Kiwi Vine

The Kiwi vine continues to grow every summer, providing lots shade for the Hostas and birds.

When you stand under the arbor of the Kiwi vine, it's like walking into your own little shaded room, all cozy and comforting.

I took a good look today to see how many kiwi fruits are on the vines. I could see lots of fruit, however, most are not ripe yet...maybe another week or so. I did fine a few kiwi's that were very ripe. Oh, my they were so sweet and delicious.

I am standing underneath the Kiwi vine looking out. I think I should put a chair under the Kiwi vine so I can enjoy the shade and view!

Here are the little sweet treasures. They really are cute don't you think? Totally organic, wholesome and nutritious!
