He's On a Mission

It's the last day of the year, so Bike man was on a mission! Have you ever known a man that uses his bicycle as means of transportation while ice fishing?

The lake was still perfect today for riding, but ice fishing was the main interest this afternoon. The Son caught a nice Northern, but released it back into the hole.....wasn't big enough!

I'm looking forward to a new year, new interests, new bike trips, and a new attitude towards life. Enjoying New Year's Eve in the comforts of home sweet home.

Hey mom moo, welcome home. I'm toasting a bubbly to you tonight. Blessings to you mom for continued healing and comfort.....you are one tough lady!

My Standby

Do you have, a favorite recipe that you consider as your standby when life gets busy? I do and I'm proud of it! Tomorrow night Bike man and I will be taking part in the annual family get-together at Bike man's oldest son's house. This gathering always works out well because we get to see all the grandkitties.

So tonight I made my quinoa salad with all my favorite fresh veggies. Mix in a delicious red wine vinegar dressing, and that's it! A very easy and tasty salad for gatherings.

Bike man surprise me with a special treat for my quinoa salad. He went grocery shopping today and bought me this absolutely amazing sheep's milk feta cheese from France. Wow, the taste is unbelievable.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but if you want my quinoa salad recipe, go to my Turtle recipes and you will find it there.

The weather is still mild here in Northwest Wisconsin. Got home at sunset tonight and ran my three mile route. I'm loving this snow-less December! And Bike man? He rode his bike on the lake ice this afternoon. Guess he just had to checkout the ice fisherman to see what they were catching.

It Continues

Mild, sunny and beautiful. Do I miss the winter snow? Heck no. After years of early snowfall and cold temperatures, I'm appreciating the unseasonable conditions. Seriously, I'm thinking Bike man and I should go ride the Red Cedar trail this weekend! With no snow cover, the trail should be ride able.

Mom update: she's being released on Saturday and will be coming home.....yippee! Her therapy is aggressive, but is paying off. I'm excited for my mama to be finally going home.....home sweet home.

What?

I took this photo yesterday. I've been watching this caterpillar for several weeks now. With very little snow, this caterpillar was exposed to the elements. Every day I'd walk by this rolled up caterpillar just laying out there in the brown grass along the sidewalk. Well yesterday, I discovered the caterpillar was slowly moving......but wait, this is late December! Crazy weather I tell ya.......

Unreal

I couldn't resist, so I hung out my laundry today! Windy and 40 + degrees this afternoon....perfect for drying clothes. Becca and I also got out for a run around noon when the sun was at it's highest point in the sky.....the sun felt wonderful.

Hey, look who I found out on the lake ice this afternoon!
Of course I wanted to ride my bike too. A little nervous starting out on the ice. I kept asking Bike man how much ice is on the lake? He assured me 8 inches of good solid ice, but I still rode gingerly!

Stayed out on the lake until after sunset. The pink sky tonight was amazing and such a beautiful sight. After spending the last three weeks mainly indoors, the fresh air today was my special Christmas gift. Bike man spent the rest of the afternoon ice fishing, so this was our first real winter outing (minus the snow)!

I'm actually hoping the weather stays mild for a while and the snow stays away. Bicycling today on the lake is one of those events we wait for all year long.....really!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas To All Our Blogger Friends

We wished my mom moo well and said our good-byes this afternoon. I'm really hoping mom only has one more week in the nursing home and then she can return home.

Headed for home on an unbelievably warm and snow-free December day. Was wonderful to have our daughter along with us for our Christmas trip.

Looking forward to leaving 2011 behind and embracing 2012........
