Girl's Weekend

It's a mother and daughter weekend, how lucky for me! Becca and I took off last night and drove to southwest Wisconsin to visit my folks for Easter. Wow, everything is blooming here....apple trees, lilacs, berry bushes, grape vines, plum trees, and some wildflowers. It's amazing how 180 miles south can make a big difference.

We took a quick road trip this afternoon to our favorite bargain store for food products. I'm not sure if I've shown this photo before, but this rock formation is called, elephant trunk rock, and it's on our way to the outlet store.

It rained for a short time late today, but then the sky opened up around 7:30 pm tonight for a beautiful pink and orange display. Lots of birds singing and mild temperatures today, just an enjoyable day all around. My mother is slowly regaining her strength and trying to return to a normal life. It's hard now to imagine she was struggling with her heart problems five months ago. Everyday is a new day........

Calm Waters

A cool, but beautiful day. The lake is perfect this time of year and I find much pleasure and peacefulness in the calm waters.....especially after a stressful & crazy day at work.

Oh So Nice

Just about as perfect as you can get today for spring weather. Sunshine, few clouds, low breeze and mid 60 degrees. A brisk power walk with a friend tonight topped my entire day. Craving this mild fresh air.....it's good for the soul!

House of Fur

Manny - our Ragdoll

It's all about them, I mean, the cats. Our house has become a cat sanctuary. There's never a dull moment, or a place to sit! Come on kitty, MOVE over!!!!

Aiden - our Maine Coon

One thing I've learned about Maine Coon cats, is watch out for the massive claws. Aiden paws are the size of a dog, except add really sharp claws! I don't play with Aiden very often because of his huge paws that can quickly grab anything. His favorite toy? A drinking straw. Thank heavens for cheap toys!

Coming Out of Hibernation

The wind was strong today, but Bike man rode the lake route.....again. Good for him. We'll get back into bicycle mode, slowly but surely.

It Takes One To Know One

Ruby and I headed west this afternoon on our first bicycle ride of the season. Well first, I went out running with Jill, my neighbor, then I decided to hop on Ruby since I was already warmed up. Bike man graciously waved at me while I was ending my run as he was just leaving for his own 20 mile bicycle ride. I wanted to ride too, but opted for a shorter route.

It wasn't long into my ride and I discovered a small turtle crossing the state highway. I have to admit, I can certainly relate to that turtle. That turtle just wanted to take his time, and he didn't want to feel rushed. He was on a mission to cross the road and he didn't appreciate the noise of cars, but he kept going until......

I showed up! With vehicles coming in both directions, I dismounted on my bicycle and quickly scooped him up. A few photos, and then I set him down along the edge of the highway to continue on his merry way into the grassy area. I guess that's the life of a turtle!

I stopped briefly to take a photo of the Hay River, which just happens to be the river that flows into our lake, north of our house. Not a lot of color yet since the leaves are just opening on the trees. This is a pretty darn good river for fishing.....excellent for launching a canoe and floating down the river for a relaxing afternoon. Bike man and I have fond memories of floating this river with fishing poles, wine coolers, and my bikini!!!!!
