Monster Cold-Front Moving In

Strong cold-front moved in today and caused 45-50 mph winds and a 20 degree temperature drop in a 2-hour span.  While taking this video, my face was burning from the cold windchill.  Subzero temperatures the next few days, so guess we'll hibernate inside the house.  Winter in the Midwest.....gotta love it!

Full Day

Bad timing for me this morning as I met the train on my way to work.  Wait time....about five minutes and just enough time for me to hop out of the car to snap a photo.  I love trains.

Full agenda today.  Arrived at work, gathered my necessary technology tools and then headed off to the city for a library meeting.  After the meeting, I took a lesson on using OneClickDigital for downloading and transferring audiobooks to your favorite audio device.  Then got another lesson on using a Ziggi camera device for projecting images (apps) from a iPad, through a digital projector to a large screen....really cool concept!

By 1 pm, I was back in my car and drove to the nearest Culver's for a cup of hot chili.  Not much time, so I ate in the car!  Headed across town to the mall.  I had exactly one hour to search for a new pair of blue jeans.....mission accomplished.

Left the city and drove 30 miles Northwest to my doctor's appointment.  Finally headed home at sundown.  Didn't feel like a late day run, so headed down to the lake to chit chat with Bike man, who just happened to be out ice fishing all afternoon.  Pleasantly warm this afternoon, like 35 degrees +.  Tomorrow the bottom drops out on temperatures.  Back to subzero January!

Helping a Friend

Farmhouse

It all started with helping a friend.  So, about 11 years ago, Kim started her sandwich and soup cafe in the back of her gift shop. Her sandwich cafe was an instant hit in our small community where I work. I have to admit I've been a customer of Kim's cafe for the past 10 years.  Sometimes I order a bowl of soup for lunch and sometimes I just order a sandwich.

Five months ago I persuaded Kim to give social media a try for her business.  Since Kim is technology challenged (she's totally fine with me saying this), I decided to step in and help my friend.  I've now been posting on Kim's Farmhouse Facebook page for 4 1/2 months.  Initially, I started taking the photos of her sandwiches and featured soup of the day, and then posted her specials everyday.  Now, Kim has learned to take photos with her iPhone and every morning she will send me a photo of her featured sandwich and soup and I will post the special of the day on her Facebook page.  Posting takes all of 2 minutes.  Kim is grateful and I am happy to help her succeed in her business.

At some point I am hoping to teach Kim how to post her own soup and sandwich specials on her Facebook page, but for now, I am happy to take two minutes out of my morning to help a friend.

Take a Look

Notice anything?  Bike man pointed this out to me right away.  Wild salmon caught in the pristine waters of Alaska......so why does it say "frozen salmon filet (Atlantic)!!!!!!  Looks like someone in the meat department doesn't know their geography!
