Outdoor Fire

Turned out to be a beautiful fall day. Went for my walk/run workout this afternoon. Still in the hurting stage, but was able to run further today, so that's good.

Bike man was busy collecting the lake buoy's today on Tainter Lake. Not an easy task, but he did get all of them.

I'm very proud of my camp fire skills tonight. After raking pine needles and pine cones this afternoon, I decided to start a fire in the copper pit. Nice warm fire......who said I can't be a boy scout!

Serious Business

Catching mice is serious business. Just ask Aiden.....the big boy!

That's no toy mouse hanging from his mouth. Aiden, the big boy, caught a mouse and held it by the tail for five minutes while he walked around the house growling. I learned something new about Aiden. He takes his mouse catching very seriously! Found the mouse the next morning.....dead, but not eaten. Guess it's more fun to play than eat......

Will Miss Her

After 10 years, she's leaving us! My Youth Services Librarian, Jenny, has taken a new job.....a career change. I sure will miss her.....especially her professionalism, her talents, her kindness, her love for children's literature and her friendship. Spent a wonderful evening dining out at Duncan Creek wine bar and grill (Chippewa Falls) to celebrate her new job venture. We'll miss you Jenny.

Switching Gears

So two weeks ago I decided to try some walking/running. Totally being honest here......it hurts! I haven't run in about six years now. Being older doesn't help either. My joints and muscles are saying "no way" Lis!!! Of course I'm stubborn and don't want to admit my body is older....why is that? Must be a woman thing.

So anyway, because my bicycle rides are pretty much limited to weekends now, I decided to try another form of exercise. And by the way, I have vowed not to join the fitness center because my body and mind needs fresh air......lots of fresh air.

So tonight I ran/walked in light drizzle, but that was totally fine by me. Just craving some outdoor time to keep me healthy and happy. Will bring the bicycle back out this weekend.

PS. Bike man is still lake and stream monitoring. He should wrap everything up by October.

More Pictures

More pics from Saturday. Certainly was a beautiful fall day for a ride. This was actually our first ride with Trisha.

I kinda felt like we were riding with the Son back in the high school years. Every so often he'd take off and climb a hill, bunny-jump a curb, pop a wheelie, or slam on his breaks. Just like old times!!!

And then there's Bike man......he's a retired Marine. He takes his cycling seriously. Need some bicycle repair.....call Bike man, he has every bike tool you can imagine.

Well, no bicycling today. The day progressed into drizzle, rain drops and then heavy rain by the time I headed home after work. Yup, fall is really here.

River Ride

Spent an amazing day yesterday bicycling from St. Paul to Minneapolis. Met up with the Son and his girl Trisha and headed along the Mississippi River.

Guess who met us along the way? Becca! So nice that our daughter is familiar with the bike trails and met us down by the river.

The weather was great.....partly cloudy, mild and a slight breeze. Hanging out along the river was so beautiful. After a rest and snack break, Becca headed back towards her house and we continued on towards St. Paul, making a big circle.

Stop by this overlook along the trail.....the view was gorgeous and the sunshine felt so warm.

Our newest turtle member, Trisha, has discovered bicycling! I'm so happy she came with us. I guess if you're going to live in the Twin Cities metro, you may as well discover the trails.....tons of trails!!

Our last minute trip to cycle in the Twin Cities yesterday was perfect. Bike man and I especially enjoyed the trail along the river. Thanks Chris for giving us the grand tour. (20 miles)
