Change of Plans
Bike man and I seem to be on different schedules lately. As he was heading out at 6:30 am this morning for some lake monitoring, I was getting ready to attend my Board of Director's board meeting at the food co-op. Seems like this will be the normal routine for the next six months. Because of a new summer commitment for Bike man, we decided to postpone our June bicycle trip......bummer. Looking ahead, I may have to spend weekends bicycling by myself or hopefully with a friend. Unfortunately, I'm not really a "bike-by-yourself" kind of girl. I will do it if I have too, but it's not really enjoyable for me. I guess for now I will continue to get my exercise in by running, but hope to set up some biking time in on the Red Cedar trail like last summer.
Another spoil factor this summer for bicycling will be a route closure near Tainter Lake. The DOT will be replacing the bridge three miles down the road from our house and there will be no way for us to cross the lake on our 20 mile lake route. The only alternative route is to add about ten miles on a state highway.....a very busy state highway! Yup, looks like an unusual summer, guess I'll have to get creative!

Very Rustic
I was excited to pick up my new bedside table today after work. What a great rustic look.
My neighbor friend Jill and her husband have their own business (Once Abarn A Time) where they make furniture out of old barn wood. This particular table has a slate top, which I really love. I've decided this bedside table will go in our spare bedroom.
Geez, does it surprise me that one of the cats just had to lay across the top of the table as soon as I brought it home? No, not really.....darn kitty cat.

Every year I wait for the crab apple tree in our yard to blossom. Last year, we encountered high winds during the peak days of blossoms and we lost all the pedals, just like that! So this year.....
I'm truly enjoying our beautiful crab apple tree. Pink is one of my favorite colors!
And I can't forget our one faithful apple tree. It's very unusual this spring, only one side of the tree has apple blossoms.....weird!
Life has been busy lately and I'm happy if I can come home after work and get a run in. Haven't even found time to hop on my bicycle.....that's really sad! I was happy to hear Bike man got a lake-loop ride in this afternoon (20 miles). A cool weekend is ahead, but I hope to find time for a short bike ride.

Fresh and Tasty
This is always an exciting time of the year when the hostas emerge and slowly unravel their leaves, while growing higher and larger over the next six weeks. At this point, the leaves are fresh, tender and perfect. Well.......

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Grandma Winnie (93 years)! My mother-in-law celebrated her 93rd birthday with family and friends today. She didn't remember any of us, but she still enjoyed the festivities with lots of good food and birthday cake.
Seven of the nine family members attended the birthday party today, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thank heavens for partly cloudy skies this afternoon!
Even the children had fun making decorative masks for the birthday party....thanks Anne!
Couldn't resist holding the newest baby to our family. Little Breckin is Bike man's great-nephew and the most mellow baby ever!
