Several days ago, I took my mother home......away from the hospital, and away from the stress. Since my dad was being cared for in the hospital, it was time for me to care for my mother. Because she was under extreme stress and not eating well or sleeping, she also developed health issues of her own. How scary is that? Mom is now starting to feel better, but we will still have to watch her health as well. We are talking to dad by phone several times a day, so that makes my mom feel better.
Changing of the guard happens again tomorrow. Bike man is arriving here at my parents house on Sunday to take over for the week, and I am heading home so I can go to work next week. In the meantime my sister from Jacksonville is flying in on Tuesday to also help out for the week.
As it looks, dad hopefully will be able to come home sometime next week. His body is slowly healing and gaining strength. It was so good to talk with him tonight by phone and hear the excitement in his voice that he will be coming home soon.
As for the "team" of doctors (the team has continually changed), they do not have a new plan for my dad's bladder cancer treatments. Geez, it's soooooo frustrating. All we can do is take one day at a time.
My dad just wants to come home!

Quick Update
Glad to have my twin sister Lynn here to help. It's hard to watch my parents suffer. Thanks again to all my dad's former Biology students that are checking out my blog for more information about Mr. Curnow. I will try to keep posting updates on dad's facebook page.
On a brighter note, the family enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner in the hospital cafeteria this afternoon. The food was pretty good!

Thank You Everyone
The days are getting colder, but the ice hasn't formed yet. Any day now and the lake will have a skim of ice, which will just get thicker and thicker. I still love the glassy look of the lake when the water is totally still.....very peaceful.Thank you to all my blogger friends who have commented on my dad's medical situation. I'm sorry to report tonight that after 12 hours of being home, my dad was taken by ambulance tonight back to UW-Madison hospital. More complications of bleeding and clots. I'm frustrated and scared at the same time. I've decided I will take a break from blogging for awhile since it's harder and harder to remain positive.
I hope to continue to Tweet on my Twitter account, so please feel free to read updates. I will be leaving on Thanksgiving day to drive south to Madison.

How Exciting
Now the chore of dressing out the deer and cutting up the meat came next. Good thing it was a doe as it took hours to cut up and trim the meat. The Son cooked up some venison with bacon tonight for dinner. Very delicious.
Hey, I was treated with exciting news this afternoon, as my twin sister called to tell me that my dad was being released from the hospital. Apparently, his body repaired the nicked blood vessel, so no further surgery was needed. How cool is that? Thanks to all our friends, family, and former students of my dad that kindly prayed for him.
Ended my day at the fitness center working out on the elliptical machine. Not sure what happened to the virtual bike.....it's totally gone. Dang it!

Back Home But........
It certainly was a gloomy day indeed. Woke up to a thin layer of ice covering everything, the sidewalk, our cars, grass and especially the county roads. The ice hung around until noon when the temperature finally warmed to 32 degrees.
Apparently, we've had some cold mornings while we were gone. Tainter Lake waters are cooling down, which only means one thing......lake ice. A thin layer of ice formed near the shoreline, but eventually broke up later today. Won't be long and our lake will totally freeze over.
The freezing rain finally turned to heavy grainy droplets later today. I guess winter is finally here and I better get use to it.
I'm thinking of my dad tonight. Hi daddy. I hope you were able to rest some today, but I know family members were calling to tell you they are thinking of you. Don't worry dad, our goal is to get you home again where you can sleep in your own bed. Good luck tomorrow dad, I'll be praying for you.
