Tainter Lake Hotel
I did not give up today, even though I felt like they kept teasing me. By late this afternoon when our lake ice was actually disintegrating, the Loons appeared. I counted seven Loons swimming, and playing in the water. Every so often the Loons would give their eerie call, which just echoed across the lake. If you have ever heard the Loon call, you'll never forget it. It will be short-lived as the Loons are just using Tainter Lake as week long hotel stay and will continue to move north to where nesting is much more suitable for their lifestyles.

Finally!
Absolute joy, that's what I feel with today's high of 70 degrees. Came home from work late this afternoon and discovered the snow in our yard is finally leaving us......for good.
A big thank you to Bike man for putting the screens back on the sliding doors. The cats were curious to the smell and sounds of spring.
The lake ice is still hanging on, but not for long my friends.
High five to Bike man for his first bicycle ride around the lake route. He waved at me while riding by my public library!

My Little Space
I purposely wanted to post these dimly lit photos to show you I now have my own space to retrieve to for writing and gathering my thoughts. Bike man surprised me this week by ordering a nice desk lamp that features different lighting options....bright, cool and warm. I'm enjoying my new "little" space in our spare bedroom.

Young and Free!
I meant to post this photo last Thursday, but my work day was extremely busy so I forgot about this young man until today. I ran into this young cyclist one hour before the big snow storm hit last Thursday. "Do you know there's a big snow storm heading into our county I said?" This young-in said yes, he knew it was coming so he was in a hurry to stay ahead of the storm. Apparently, this guy is use to traveling by bicycle all-year long so the snow did not phase him. Ohhhh, the joys of being young and carefree. I never asked him, but I assumed he's was snow camping along the way. One thing I noticed.....where's his food pack? And if you wondering, yes, his bike shoes are covered in duct tape!

Hold On One More
It's raining and snowing cats and dogs!!! Hopefully this is our LAST spring snow storm....4 to 8 inches of snow tonight. On a brighter note, 60 degrees is forcasted for this weekend. Whoo hoo!

Patience
I'm trying to have patience, but irritation is moving in and taking over. I've been watching the lake ice melt for about a month now, but we seem to be losing the ice slower than most springs. The main flow of the water has opened up nicely, but with cool temperatures both day and night, the lake ice is going ever so slowly. On a good note, I stepped out the front door of our house today and heard loons calling out on the lake....what a beautiful sound. Sure wish my dad was here to hear this joyful sound. Unfortunately, the loons are only here for a week or so and then they move farther north. I'm also waiting for the white-throated sparrows to move through our area while they are headed north to the deep woods. Do you have a favorite spring bird that you wait and watch for?
Thankfully, we saved a tray of kale from being eaten by our four cats. I'm really excited because Bike man planted three different types of kale.....red, blue curled and a wild garden mix . We also have tomato and pepper plants that were just planted and will move them out to the greenhouse in a couple weeks. We definitely have the garden itch, or should I say "cabin fever."
