Switching Gears

So two weeks ago I decided to try some walking/running. Totally being honest here......it hurts! I haven't run in about six years now. Being older doesn't help either. My joints and muscles are saying "no way" Lis!!! Of course I'm stubborn and don't want to admit my body is older....why is that? Must be a woman thing.

So anyway, because my bicycle rides are pretty much limited to weekends now, I decided to try another form of exercise. And by the way, I have vowed not to join the fitness center because my body and mind needs fresh air......lots of fresh air.

So tonight I ran/walked in light drizzle, but that was totally fine by me. Just craving some outdoor time to keep me healthy and happy. Will bring the bicycle back out this weekend.

PS. Bike man is still lake and stream monitoring. He should wrap everything up by October.

More Pictures

More pics from Saturday. Certainly was a beautiful fall day for a ride. This was actually our first ride with Trisha.

I kinda felt like we were riding with the Son back in the high school years. Every so often he'd take off and climb a hill, bunny-jump a curb, pop a wheelie, or slam on his breaks. Just like old times!!!

And then there's Bike man......he's a retired Marine. He takes his cycling seriously. Need some bicycle repair.....call Bike man, he has every bike tool you can imagine.

Well, no bicycling today. The day progressed into drizzle, rain drops and then heavy rain by the time I headed home after work. Yup, fall is really here.

River Ride

Spent an amazing day yesterday bicycling from St. Paul to Minneapolis. Met up with the Son and his girl Trisha and headed along the Mississippi River.

Guess who met us along the way? Becca! So nice that our daughter is familiar with the bike trails and met us down by the river.

The weather was great.....partly cloudy, mild and a slight breeze. Hanging out along the river was so beautiful. After a rest and snack break, Becca headed back towards her house and we continued on towards St. Paul, making a big circle.

Stop by this overlook along the trail.....the view was gorgeous and the sunshine felt so warm.

Our newest turtle member, Trisha, has discovered bicycling! I'm so happy she came with us. I guess if you're going to live in the Twin Cities metro, you may as well discover the trails.....tons of trails!!

Our last minute trip to cycle in the Twin Cities yesterday was perfect. Bike man and I especially enjoyed the trail along the river. Thanks Chris for giving us the grand tour. (20 miles)

All Smiles

Girl power.......way to go! As soon as she reached the top of Seeley fire tower hill, I praised her for the lovely skirt look! I also gave her credit for biking the 40 miles along the Birkie trail. Very nice.

Colors Unfolding

Our fall season is progressing quickly. Trees are beginning to turn color, and the mornings are much cooler now. Harder to get a bike ride in, but we'll figure it out....might have to settle for weekend rides.

Chequamegon Fat Tire

Chequamegon Fat Tire.....40 miles of grass, gravel, double track, rocks, and some mud.
We headed up to Northern Wisconsin to set up on top of Seeley fire tower hill to cheer on the racers. Race day started out cool, but sunny. Becca, Chris and Trisha joined in the fun. Noting like breakfast on the campstove!
The first racers showed up before noon and kept coming, and coming and coming. Tandems, hardtails, suspensions, single speeds and pugsleys (saw two)!
Nice day for a race with the early morning sun and warm tempteratures.
Ended our race watching with a nice camp-food cookout around the fire. Camping with family is the best.
One campsite with three tents. Not bad for this time of the year. You can't beat fall camping....no bugs, no ticks, just lots of cool crisp air.
Perch Lake proved quiet and peaceful, especially with the early morning sun. A great weekend to get away....I really needed it.
