Burrrr, I needed my winter jacket today. Winter is hanging on my friends. Took a 20 minute walking break this afternoon to catch the splendor of spring flooding.
Walked down by the Red Cedar River about 1/2 block from where I work.
Eighteen Mile Creek flows into the Red Cedar River, however because of spring conditions, it looks like two rivers flow together!
The river was humming with strength and power.....never underestimate the greatness of this river, especially in the spring.
The swirls of the current almost turns my stomach!
When the river swells, the water spills into the little village park. Hard to believe in six weeks someone might be enjoying a little picnic in this park. Like they say, rain showers brings May flowers. Wait, they never said snow showers bring May flowers......or did they?

Looks like no spring this year.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll get lucky and summer will be on a weekend.
It certainly is staying cold in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of the river ....
The Kickapoo is out of its banks and rising fast. I saw a dead beaver, hit by a car, just down the way on Jug Creek Road. Yesterday my daughter driving home from the Reserve saw a beaver walking across the road....whatever is going one??
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling we may just skip spring altogether and suddenly awaken to summer one day- oy :) Its snowing as I type and we're expecting 3-5 inches- of course we are like you and have so much on the ground already still- preparing us all for the chance of a big flood.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures :)
