Close to Perfect

So as I was just getting ready to start my bike computer before heading out, I heard Bike man say, "gee you look pink today." Really? Hummm, how about that....I guess I do!

Gorgeous morning for riding. Very little wind, sun and warm temperatures. We haven't had such a nice Saturday yet in this late spring. So today was much needed. Rode the lake loop, plus added the BIG hill north of Colfax. It's a good hill to strengthen the legs and lungs and then lots of down hills to catch some speed. 28.6 miles today.

We coordinated our ride early this morning since I knew my twin sister Lynn was stopping by for a quick visit. Lynn, her son Tim and hubby Pat visited with us for about two hours and then they had to head back to Wausau. Just chilling outside on the deck with the warm breezes blowing was so relaxing. My sister promised to come back again for a visit when they can stay longer.

All in all, just a great day.

Who Turned the Heat On?

Very high humidity and warm temperatures tonight. What a change for us here in the great North! Put together a foil dinner on the gas grill late tonight....potatoes, sweet potatoes, colored peppers and onions with a touch of seasoned salt. Just relaxing after a busy work day. Man, I'm glad this week is behind me!

Looking Ahead

Another late night at work. But hey, came home to some beautiful flowers. Thanks Bike man. Looking forward to the weekend......wanna ride since we have no obligations. We definitely need the miles.

What the Heck!

As I worked from my desk this afternoon, I kept hearing this soft noise that had a certain rhythm to it. One of my regular customers said, "Lisa, you've got to come and see this." Here layed a little boy fast asleep in one of our soft chairs near my desk. His mom was nearby and told me he was really tired. I think this was more than tired......how about exhausted! I've never seen a child fast asleep in that type of position. I couldn't resist taking a picture.

The wind gusts today were unbelievable. 35 mph gusts all afternoon. This farm field is about 1 1/2 miles from our house.

The sand storm was amazing and as I step out of the car to take this photo. I felt the dust in my eyes and throat. I decided not to jump on the bike after work, but headed out for a 3 mile walk. Lots of pollen, and lots of wind. Just a weird day all around.

Oh My

Wind, heat, pollen oh my! Bike man and I decided to ride the road bikes later this afternoon....after the big rain storm, again! No big lighting, no hail, but just lots of rain. As soon as the rain clouds cleared, wow, the heat started. Good ride, but the wind was wicked (20 miles). With the winds blowing, the pollen was collecting in our throats. Both of us coughed and coughed and coughed!

Can you believe as soon as we got home from our ride, we discovered no electricity. Great....we really needed a shower. Not sure what the deal was, but the power was off for 4 hours. Finally had electricity around 9 pm.

Got home in enough time to say good bye to Trisha (the Son's girl). Tomorrow, she starts her internship in St. Paul, so she drove over to our daughter's house to stay overnight and tomorrow is her new job for the summer. Good luck Trisha.....we miss you already.

Great sunset tonight. Warm with a moderate breeze tonight.

Family Takes Priority

We had our day planned as of last night, but family comes first.....so our plans changed today. The Son and his girl decided that today would be the best day to move all their stuff to their new apartment in St. Paul. Could we help? Of course mom and dad could help. Luckily, we got everything unloaded before the big rain storm hit. As the sky got darker and darker, we just kept taking loads and loads of boxes into the apartment.

Unfortunately, the bathroom is still being remodeled, so the kids cannot move in until June 1. So, I really had to go potty. Do you see a toilet? Well, I was desperate, so I made the best of the situation. Thank heavens I'm not a girlie girl!!!!

The apartment is pretty messy with dry wall dust everywhere. The new toilet, sink and bathroom fixtures were still in boxes layed out in the living room. The kids just unloaded all their stuff wherever they could find room. After a couple hours of work, we all headed for home. Our daughter even showed up to see where her brother would be living. Still feels weird that both our kids will be residents of Minnesota, at least for now.

By the time we arrived home, the rain stopped and the skies cleared. Just like last year, we are having beautiful sunsets every night. We've lived on the lake for 27 years and we never had such beautiful sunsets like this. Thanks to climate change, I've actually witness these weather changes over the last 30-35 years. Oops, I'm dating myself.
