Enjoyable Fun

Apparently, I don't know how to bargain/negotiate at thrift sales! That's what my family told me today. Well first, I don't normally go to thrift sales and second, the prices seemed really good to me.....why would you chew down the prices even lower? Then I was told not to express your excitement if you find something you really, really like. You are suppose to act like you really don't care if you buy it or not. I didn't realize thrift sales was such a game to play. I suppose I'll get better at it, but for now, if something is priced at $5, I'll give um five bucks. That's just me.

So the pink carp......I bought that later today at an antique shop. I'm a sucker for garden artwork. It's a little bold I know, but it's art. Spent part of the day thrift shopping in the Lake Nokomis neighborhoods of Minneapolis.

The guys were hard at work back at Artena's house while we did our shopping thing. This little guy Issac, enjoyed finding the longest stick and roasting a big huge marshmallow. Little boys....you gotta love um!

Hard at work, Artena's dad put up the rain gutters today. Bike man put wood timbers along the driveway to create a garden space for perennials and hostas. It was great to just be outdoors today. Seeing all the cyclists in the Cities today gave me the biking itch, but biking just wasn't in the plan for today. Tomorrow should look more promising.

Coming home tonight, we drove along West River Parkway in Minneapolis. This is one of the trailways I've been wanting to ride since it follows the Mississippi River. Lots of trees, green space and beautiful homes along this parkway. Guess we'll just have to mark our calendar for a city ride.

All around, just a fun day with Artena's family and our daughter. The sunshine felt so good!

Sluggish

Rhododendron

Cloudy, cool and rainy. Quite a switch from the 100 degree temperatures we dealt with earlier in the week. Felt tired and sluggish all day. Going to bed early tonight so I can rejuvenate in the morning for a big thrift sale extravaganza in Minneapolis with our daughter and her housemate Artena. Looking forward to some fun bargains, bakery treats and a backyard cookout!

Long Day

Oriental Poppy

A late night at work. Enjoyed my morning with an hour long walk and then hanging out with the Son. Tomorrow is his last day of work here in Wisconsin and then it's the official move to St. Paul Minnesota next week. Guess his bedroom will become the "cat" room!!!

Nighttime lows in the 40's tonight. And to think two nights ago I went to bed and the temperature was 80 degrees! Extreme weather? I think so

Look What's Blooming

Clematis

The Clematis is in full bloom this week.....how beautiful. I had a hard time taking a photo since the wind was blowing at full speed when I took this pic. Simply gorgeous tonight with breezes blowing and temps in the 60's, and to think last night was 97 degrees when I arrived home after work. What a switch. Nothing planned tonight....no bicycle ride, no walk, no anything! I'm totally fine with a peaceful night. Quiet is good in my book of life.

Looking forward to a good night's sleep.

What a Day

Just plain hot today! No bike ride. Came home after work and just melted. As Bike man was testing for microorganisms late this afternoon, I prepared dinner outdoors, which was about all I wanted to do in this heat and humidity. I am seriously looking forward to lesser temps in a few days.

PS. Hey, it's National Chocolate Ice Cream Day....whoo hoo!

I Know it Was Hot But......

My friend Kim and I have been waiting to finally ride together. If you are a faithful reader of this blog, you will remember that Kim is my one friend that loves to cycle with me. Last summer we met on Monday's and Thursday's and rode the Red Cedar trail.

Despite the heat today (94 degrees) we rode the trail late today. The river, rock ledges and canopy of trees along the trail made it a pleasant ride. Now the heat and humidity is catching up with me. I'm tired (22 miles).

Warm Ride

Headed out for a trail ride this afternoon. Layered on the suntan lotion as the sun was intense and the wind was minimal. Pollen and trail grit got the best of us. Made a quick stop to take a pic of my favorite water falls along the Red Cedar trail.

Bike man suggested we could ride to Durand this afternoon, however, I soon discovered I was lacking giddy-up! Guess I'm still trying to adjust to the warm temps and bike miles. I was just glad Bike man could ride with me today. (28 miles - me/40 miles Bike man).
