It's That Time of the Year

Who is that mask woman?  Psst....it's Trisha, and she's enjoying the warmth of the portable ice fishing shack.

Today was the annual ice fishing contest on Tainter lake.  This was an important day for my family, especially the guys!  There's always that glimmer of hope that one of the guys will catch the "big" one!

Everyone showed up today in vehicles, but not Bike man.  He cycled his way to the ice fishing contest on his snow bike and studded tires.  Way to go BM!!!

Ended up being a slow afternoon.  One false alarm and even though the flag went up, there was no fish.

As you can see, others were catching a few fish during the contest.

Spotted our friend Carol, with her daughter and granddaughter out on the lake.  With a high temperature around 19 degrees, the girls headed over to the food and beverage trailer to get a cup of hot chocolate.  Today was a day to be bundled up in layers, but it sure felt good to be outdoors.  Hope to get out tomorrow as well despite the ice and snow storm moving in.

  1. Looks like a great way to spend a cold day. I have never ice fished, I'm a fly fisher person. Still, looks like lots of fun!

  2. I'm gonna have to do a little researching on ice fishing.
I don't even know what you meant when you said, "Flag went up"...
but I will check it out on the web; I'm sure I'll find out.
Remember:...we fish with cane poles, rods and reels and don't fish through ANY ice down here in da South!
    Hugs and smiles,
    Jackie
