Nice Ride

It's been years since she's joined us for a trail ride, but today our daughter joined us in a ride south along the Red Cedar River. Twenty years ago, this is the trail we taught our kids to ride and appeciate. Our children grew up riding bicycles and riding off road trails. Lots of memories started on this trail.......

With a few bicycle adjustments along the way today, we enjoyed our afternoon ride. Beautiful weather with mid seventies, sunny conditions and low humidity.....just perfect. Rode easy today (20 miles). Thanks Becca, we enjoyed the memories of long ago! Time sure flies by.

Special Visit

Becca and her companion (Jerney) came to visit this weekend......so nice. One day older today.....yup, it's my birthday, but I'm not celebrating. It's just like any other day. My treat is having my daughter come home to visit. The Son called me this morning to wish me happy birthday. I love my family.......

Special Treats Today

Turned out to be a good day today. Received several special treats today. First, my co-worker surprised me with a piece of jewelry she made, along with a special kitty cat cream pitcher she bought on a recent trip to St. Louis.....so cute! Then later tonight, our friend Anna stopped over to do some bat monitoring and brought us a delicious raspberry chocolate cream pie. Awesome pie!

Looking forward to a day off from work tomorrow.

Trail Ride

What makes a snake just die on the bike trail? Did someone ride over him? Yup, he was dead all right! Great ride tonight and very quiet as I rode solo. Not many riders out on the trail, but I did see the guy that I always see every time I ride. I think he rides the trail everyday.....at a good clip too.

Just as I arrived home tonight from riding, the sunset was on fire due to the high humidity. So beautiful. (22 miles)

Time With Family

The lakes in Northeast Wisconsin are so beautiful and so clean. Spent the weekend visiting my uncle and aunt at their summer cabin. Lots of good food and plenty of laughter!

Couldn't ask for better weather, cool but sunny. My nephew kicked back and enjoyed our boat ride!

Lynn (my twin), Bike man and I enjoyed the Saturday afternoon pontoon ride. We got the grand tour around the lake.....thanks uncle Jack!

My unc......he's a kid at heart! Just a great weekend with family and a much needed mini vacation.

Feeling a little stressed with my job and all the construction going on in our building. Really busy day with coordinating the plumbers work and then the local carpenter who is building new shelves for all the children's books. Came home tuckered out. No Monday trail ride tonight, but managed a 4 mile walk with a friend. Bike man was busy all day with lake monitoring, so hopefully we can make up some lost time on the bikes.

Counting the days until September arrives, yikes! Summer is almost over here in the great north.

A Traveler

Was leaving work this afternoon and spotted this bicycle outside our building. The bicyclist came into the library to use our Internet computers. Wow, this is his way of traveling by bike. I think his sleeping bag is in the milk crate, but what's up with those dried weeds? Gotta give him credit for traveling by bicycle.......high five man!

Not sure if I can post over the next three days since we will be visiting family in Northeast Wisconsin. Bike man is taking off tomorrow and heading north via bicycle. I will meet up with him somewhere north. Hoping he can get in 70-80 miles before I catch up to him by car.

Don't Be Afraid

Don't be afraid to give tofu a try. Really! The secret is how you prepare it. After arriving home tonight, Bike man had firm tofu already chopped and seasoned and just waiting to be fried in oil olive and garlic oil. He seasoned the tofu in a garlic/pepper mix along with soy flour and regular flour. BM used a paper towel to absorb any liquid from the tofu before adding the seasoning and flour.

My role in bringing this meal together was chopping the vegetables.....whatever vegetables you have available in your refrigerator! Tonight I used zucchini, green beans, onions and fresh tomatoes. Everything was garden grown, except the onion! After sauteing the veggies, Bike man threw in about 3 cup of cooked brown/wild rice, along with plenty of Tamari (soy sauce).

That's it, just fresh tasty garden vegetables with a little protein and a grain mixed in. Totally delicious and home-cooked!!!
