Meet Our Newest Family Member

Meet Manny, our newest adoption. I know, I know.....you're wondering why we would adopt another cat. Well, it goes like this. I found out about Manny through a blogger friend, through a friend, through a friend! Manny's owner, Debbie, has to move from a townhome to an apartment and she is only allowed two pets, and she currently had three. Debbie had the hard decision to choose which pet had to go to a new home. She choose Manny......a purebred Ragdoll.

Since we are cat people, I knew a Ragdoll would fit well with our home and our other cats. Today, we combined a graduation party with Bike man's granddaughter Alex and a trip to Plymouth, Minnesota to pick up Manny.

So I broke the news today to Becca and Chris that we were adopting another cat. So what does our daughter say? "Mom, don't become one of those animal hoarders."!!!!!!!!!! Don't worry kids, I'm just a cat lover and four will be my limit.

Does anyone want to adopt another Ragdoll named Roxy.....a female. We met her today too and she was a real sweetie. Her fur was sooooo soft. Roxy needs a new home by August.

Lots of rain and thunderstorms today. I'd have to say today was a washout. Had a nice time at Alex's graduation party.

Peaceful

Our gardens are in perfect shape with the adequate rain level and cooler spring. Just love coming home to our green lush plants. ....it's a nice peaceful feeling. Just waiting around tonight until it gets dark. Bike man, Anna, Jeff and I will be going out bat monitoring tonight in the boat. Gotta monitor those Wisconsin bats ya know.

Who's That Guy?

Saw this cyclist when I was driving home after work. Hey, wait a minute....that's bike man! Can you believe he tried racing me in my car? Geez, it's a guy thing. Well, I'm glad one of us got out for a ride today.

Weird day. Wet, humid, cloudy and cool. The sun finally appeared mid afternoon.

Frustrations

So Google owns Blogger, but Google hasn't updated it's blogger system to use the new Internet Explorer 9....that's where I ran into problems yesterday. This problem was first documented in March, but Blogger hasn't done anything about it! Anyway, Bike man updated my computer to IE 9 and then all of sudden I couldn't post last night. So frustrating. Finally figured out what was going on at work today. Luckily, Bike man figured out the problem tonight and how to solve it. Here's what you do if you update to IE 9......go to tools, click on compatibiltiy view settings and add blogger.com as a compatible website. That's all it is.

Rained almost all day today. Just a gloomy day all around.

Just a Little Rain

My friend Kim was worried....really worried that we would get rained on, or worse scenario, deal with lightening and thunder. We decided to ride the RC trail late this afternoon, but the skies darkened quickly so we decided to cut our ride short. The skies opened up on the way back as we reached Menomonie. No big deal, just some light rain showers. Rode 18 miles. Surprisingly, the trail grit, pollen and sweat felt good......just happy to be out riding.

PS. Had troubles posting this on Tuesday night so I'm one day late. Still looking into my posting problem at home on my computer. Hopefully Bike man can figure it out!

Little Gardens

Last weekend while walking through the Lake Nokmis neighborhoods, I found this little gnome garden. You'll have to click on the photo to enlarge it. Can you see the tiny gnome? What a cool idea to have this little garden in your yard. I'm still amazed that the yard owner doesn't suffer vandalism, but I really like this idea.

Worked late tonight.....another board meeting. Had time for an hour walk early this morning. What a great morning with temperatures in the low fifties. Bike man was lucky and was able to get his 28 mile bike ride in this morning. I'm hoping for riding later this week.

Enjoyable Fun

Apparently, I don't know how to bargain/negotiate at thrift sales! That's what my family told me today. Well first, I don't normally go to thrift sales and second, the prices seemed really good to me.....why would you chew down the prices even lower? Then I was told not to express your excitement if you find something you really, really like. You are suppose to act like you really don't care if you buy it or not. I didn't realize thrift sales was such a game to play. I suppose I'll get better at it, but for now, if something is priced at $5, I'll give um five bucks. That's just me.

So the pink carp......I bought that later today at an antique shop. I'm a sucker for garden artwork. It's a little bold I know, but it's art. Spent part of the day thrift shopping in the Lake Nokomis neighborhoods of Minneapolis.

The guys were hard at work back at Artena's house while we did our shopping thing. This little guy Issac, enjoyed finding the longest stick and roasting a big huge marshmallow. Little boys....you gotta love um!

Hard at work, Artena's dad put up the rain gutters today. Bike man put wood timbers along the driveway to create a garden space for perennials and hostas. It was great to just be outdoors today. Seeing all the cyclists in the Cities today gave me the biking itch, but biking just wasn't in the plan for today. Tomorrow should look more promising.

Coming home tonight, we drove along West River Parkway in Minneapolis. This is one of the trailways I've been wanting to ride since it follows the Mississippi River. Lots of trees, green space and beautiful homes along this parkway. Guess we'll just have to mark our calendar for a city ride.

All around, just a fun day with Artena's family and our daughter. The sunshine felt so good!
