Lots of Pine Cones

Over the weekend, I picked up lots of pine cones in our yard....Bike man helped too! We filled two large garbage bags with big pine cones and will use them this winter for fires down on the lake ice. I made a nice fire Saturday night with the pine cones and they ignited immediately. Fresh pine cones covered in pine sap make the best fire starters! Can't believe all the pine cones and pine needles that fell from the pine trees this fall. Want pine cones? Come to our house....pick all you want for free!!!

Numerous Backroads

After spending all day yesterday doing yard work and other chores, Bike man and I could finally get out today for a rode ride. We didn't have a plan or route, we just rode north. Spent most of our time riding Otter Creek and the town of Hay River country roads. The sun was hot today, but the shade felt refreshing.

Bike man decided we needed one quick stop to check out these beautiful red berries.

Not sure what this bush is with the red berries, but it stood out among the muted fall colors. All of our fall colors have faded now....it happened very quickly due to the lack of rain. We haven't had rain for weeks now so our conditions are crispy dry. Even my skin feels dry! We reached another 80 degrees today, which is not typical for October in Wisconsin. Sleeping with the doors and windows open is unreal for this time of year.....kinda feels like camping! (29 miles)

He Doesn't Know.......

The gentle giant doesn't know he's extra large. He is continually knocking things over and walks through the house with heavy paws. Poor thing.....life is tough for a big giant! I can't help it however, I still love his 18 pounds of silky fur. Just for precaution, if you hear him coming in a full run......just get out of the way or you'll be knocked over! Guess Big Boy is as close as you can get to a feline version of a dog........Maine Coons, you just gotta love um!!!!

Evening Sky

Another warm and beautiful night. Took a little boat ride tonight with Bike man. The evening sky says it all!

What Do You Think?

I've been trying to learn this new eBook craze. Last week I helped a gentleman download and transfer a library eBook to his Nook device, and today I finally figured out how to do the same for the Kindle. Two weeks ago Amazon joined forces with our eBook vendor OverDrive and now Kindle owners can download library eBooks for free.....how cool is that? The last few nights I've retired to bed early so I can read my new eBook, "The Happiness Project" on Bike man's Kindle. Never thought I'd like eBooks, but guess what? I like the convenience of buying or selecting an eBook whenever you want. So does this mean I'll see less and less of my library customers? The future of libraries and book stores are changing. What are your feelings about eBooks or E-content?

Do You Love Bread?

The beauty of bread.....who doesn't love it? Bought a loaf at the farmer's market and then the following day Bike man made his own bread. French toast, grilled cheese sandwiches and toast with peanut butter.....it's all good!

Switching gears now. Move over bicycling. Did a 3 mile run/walk this afternoon (my third week now). Bumping up the exercising so I can eat more bread!

Beautiful Ride

"Say dear, could you please pump-up Ruby's tires for me"?

"
"What did you say......pump up my own damn tires"!!!!! Geez, I think I need to report spousal abuse!

What a super day for a ride on the back roads. The fall colors are beautiful, but we're still not at our peak colors yet. I think the full colors will be next week. Looking forward to the forecast of 70 degree temperatures coming up. Indian summer??? (28 miles)
