Do Not Disturb

While out walking around in the woods looking for morels yesterday, look what I found.  It took me by surprise since I was just scanning the ground looking for morels and then all of a sudden, I see this beautiful silky and shiny ball of fur curled up next to this tree.  The sleeping fawn really wasn't sleeping.

I carefully got my cell phone out of my pocket and took two photos.  I gently walked around the one side of the fawn and I could see it's eyes wide open.  The fawn never moved, not once.  I never walked out in front of it so it could see me face to face.....didn't want to scare the poor thing.  What a beautiful fawn baby.

So did we find any morels, no!  We didn't even find one.  I believe it is too early for us here in Dunn County.  I do think the morels will pop out later this week when it warms up.  I won't have time to go walking through the woods because of my work schedule, but maybe Bike man can take a walk later this week.

  1. Lovely 'accidental' find! Here the morels are few and far between, hours of looking yielding a small mess of them. As it is supposed to be 80 today, maybe they will emerge.

  2. Ohhh- that is so sweet and precious. It just draws you in- and yet its so true that it wouldn't take much to disturb its peaceful rest. So neat you got these shots of it!
